I'm not really back from my blog/online hiatus but I did want to wish all of my bloggie friends and their families a Very Merry Christmas. May your festive season be safe and filled with love, laughter and precious time, making cherished memories with loved ones. For my friends who will have an empty place at their Christmas table this year I wish for you peace and healing. I hope everyone is enjoying Spring and I'll see you all when I return.

This gorgeous enamelled daisy brooch ranks among my most favourite. It's hard to see in the photo but each daisy is blushing pink around the centre diamantes. The enamelling is just perfect and it is a large brooch, measuring approximately 2 inches across. I'm not sure of the vintage but would guess 1950s.
This brooch caught my eye due to ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-42270695204112315452011-09-25T12:11:00.001+10:002011-09-25T12:26:17.496+10:00Sunshine AND Shadows....It's been a pretty 'ordinary' week here. The puppies are growing fast and are a joy to wake to each morning. (even if I would rather it wasn't at 4-5am) They truly are a joy. Mr B put an inch of water into a sheep trough this week for them to use as a paddling pool and they loved it! Unfortunately like most dogs they also loved the mud created by the splashes of water on the surrounding ground ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-16115339891451837392011-09-20T11:48:00.000+10:002011-09-20T11:48:03.894+10:00Tuesday trinkets 18...The puppies are sleeping peacefully and hopefully will continue to do so until I finish this post!
Today I have a small assortment of novelty pins and brooches to show you.
This beautiful spider brooch is handmade and I was told dates to the 1920s.He measures a scant 2 inches long. Apologies to any arachnaphobes out there!
This cocky brooch is tiny measuring just slightly more than a half inch. ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-17084820159968200272011-09-14T13:10:00.001+10:002011-09-14T13:11:25.615+10:00Puppies are fun....But Oh soooooo exhausting! I have barely been on my computer since the puppies arrived but maybe that is not so bad? I am getting more exercise than I have had in a while and they really are a joy to watch. I feel like a new mother all over again. So I hope you will excuse my absence from blogland a little longer.
We also still have my sister and her friend staying. The house is a little squishyladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-34324500578611386502011-09-11T22:02:00.000+10:002011-09-11T22:02:13.073+10:00Meet Max and Cheby...I mentioned in my last post how busy life was around here recently. We have a lot going on.
Thursday we picked up one of our new puppies. He is an 8 week old Bichon Frise Miniature Poodle Cross and just the cutest bundle of fluff at present.
Meet Max!

I have had a very busy week and have not had a chance to take photographs.
Last week Mr B had further surgery on his jaw and the rest of his teeth removed. I am glad to say he is recovering well. This surgery and teeth removal is due to complications caused by his cancer treatment last year.

This pretty bracelet is marked Judy Lee. I am unsure what vintage this is.
Pretty goldtone bracelet, nicely made but unmarked. Not it's original box and I am again unsure what the vintage is.
Tiny bar brooch, not much more than an inch long. It looks like an older piece but is marked Avon and could well be a ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-54344023130039788192011-08-26T08:23:00.001+10:002011-08-26T08:25:41.873+10:00Spring has sprung! ...I know it's not officially Spring yet but Spring has definately arrived at our place. The garden is filled with birds. We have birds with babies nesting in our eaves. I have been watching momma bird dash to and fro to feed her little ones. Birds abound in our garden all year round but at present we are blessed by the prescence of honeyeaters, finches, willie wagtails, magpies, plovers, doves and aladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-51059536888178237382011-08-23T11:04:00.000+10:002011-08-23T11:04:47.478+10:00Tuesday trinkets 16...Some diamante loveliness to share with you all today. Diamante's are difficult to photograph well so I apologise for some of the less than perfect photos.
Pretty in pink! This brooch is probably 1950s vintage, note the aurora borealis finish to some of the diamantes. (Aurora Borealis coating was not invented until the early 1950s and was hugely popular as a finish to jewellery in this era)

Hope you all enjoy them. I managed to convince my daughter to model for me this week. I'm not so sure about the pink background though! It is an old Christmas card album. Sadly at some time it has been water damaged and shows signs of age also. However, inside there are real treasures to behold. I don't care that the album cover has damage or that some pages show age ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-62152784999761421432011-08-13T13:02:00.000+10:002011-08-13T13:02:32.701+10:00The law is an ass sometimes....I watched a magistrate make my girlfriend and her three children homeless on Thursday. I felt physically sick. I cannot imagine the distress my friend was feeling. Actually I think she was in shock, the distress came later as reality sank in.
My girlfriend's landlord gave notice to vacate so he could do some renovations. He gave adequate notice by law. From the glamorous to the kitsch! (Told you I have eclectic tastes lol)
This gorgeous pearl and aurora borealis coated crystal bead necklace is from the 1950s/1960s era. The clasp finishes with a pearl and AB crystal dangle which would sit beautifully at the back of the neck.
Kitschy and cute little 'Bambi' brooches. Diamantes are VERY tricky to photograph and I only have a little point and click camera.
Despite taking all these photographs outside in natural light there was still an issue with reflections in some of them.
This gorgeous pink brooch and clip on earrings set is unmarked. Sadly ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-81851230083129417452011-07-28T12:06:00.000+10:002011-07-28T12:06:27.891+10:00Just like the pied piper....After 'mortgaging my house' to the scrapbooking shop yesterday I found the nearby op shop a calling to me! I was helpless to resist of course. This particular op shop is a little further afield than my usual but whenever close by I like to call in as they usually have some good books if nothing else.
Yesterday was no exception.
The first book to catch my eye was this lovely old Reader's Digest ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-16392688138053626962011-07-26T19:54:00.000+10:002011-07-26T19:54:04.631+10:00Tuesday trinkets 12...Welcome to today's trinkets. I opened a new box of goodies today and found a real mixed bag. Enjoy!
This beautiful pendant necklace and earring set were the re-discovery of the day for me. Although unmarked this set is very heavy and has a high quality goldtone finish. I'm not sure of the vintage but wonder if it is from the 1980s given it's bold colours and 'heavy' style. I could however be ladychiarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01399371039307232709noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488317947705949015.post-91514740415632694712011-07-24T13:50:00.000+10:002011-07-24T13:50:59.257+10:00What day is it?I'm really not doing a very good job with this blog of mine. I never anticipated blogging every day but hoped I could post at least 3-4 times a week. It just isn't happening for me right now. We have a lot going on and most of the time I am not even sure what day of the week it is!

First up this sparkly beauty that is 1950s vintage. The centre stone is plain black glass surrounded by aurora borealis coated teardrop shaped rhinestones that vary in colour from blue to green depending on the way the light hits them. The smaller rhinestones that make up the band are all clear. I am an avid reader and collector of books. In particular I collect vintage children's books with a sub collection of Christmas themed books.
I visited a couple of op shops this week and found some really lovely treasures. Sometimes my local op shops are a bit overpriced but I did get some bargains this time around.
